Visions & Environments at Washington State Convention & Trade Center
SEATTLE, Thursday July 18, 2013 from 5-8pm, Grand Opening of Vision & Environments Latino Art Exhibit. —The Washington State Convention & Trade Center is proud to present a feast for the eyes featuring works by seven of Seattle’s premier artists: Alfredo Arreguin, Juan Alonso, Blanca Santander, Fulgencio Lazo, Jose Orantes, Tatiana Garmendia, and Marcio Diaz.
Each of the artists in the exhibit has a distinctive style and flavor. Together, they offer up a juicy banquet of shapes, colors, and textures that will urge culture gourmands repeat visits for second helpings.
Begin the feast with Marco Diaz’s “bubble” technique and blazing hues, which like a sip of fine champagne goes straight to the head. Whet the appetite for spicy nibbles with Jose Orantes’ take on the Seattle scene, which the artist describes as a sophisticated blend of urban and naive. Juan Alonso’s baroque abstractions cleanse the palate with chic colors and glossy surfaces, like a cool gelato scoop. Fulgencio Lazo’s crisp acrylics entice like a fresh side of greens. The main course in the show is internationally renowned artist, Alfredo Arreguin. Here he exhibits deliciously patterned and layered canvases sure to satisfy the hungriest art lover. Blanca Santander’s bright and uplifting images sweeten the feast like the finest dessert, while Tatiana Garmendia’s commemorative portraits round off the banquet like a bittersweet cup of espresso.
Visions and Environments has two opening receptions. The Grand Opening is on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 5-8pm. A second reception will kick off Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 5-8pm. All are welcome at this family friendly event. “The show is free and open to the public. “We Latinos know how to enjoy and share the good things in life, and from July through October everyone can join us and enjoy them too,” says the curator, Blanca Santander.
